100 MILE KIDNEY WALK

Congratulations 100 Mile Walkers, Volunteers and Organizers!
Your first Walk was a great success
You raised $3,468.48!

The 100 Mile House Walk, in its rookie year, certainly didn’t disappoint anyone who came out to see what all the fuss and fun was about!  From bagpipes to belly dancers; from sunshine to pouring rain – this event had it all!  But don’t take our word for it. Check back to see the pictures walk coordinator Dale Phelps has shared!!!  I think Dale herself sums up her first Kidney Walk experience in saying “So for me at was an absolute fun party and a success…...I was so busy I never got to enjoy the day, but I as told over and over again, how much fun everyone had, and how great it was!  We were filmed by Shaw Cable and had pictures by a professional photographer that freelances for the paper.

Watch here for details about next year's 2012 Kidney Walk in 100 Mile House.

Honorees and Special Guests
We don't know if Tannis Louie and Travis Phelps used to be "kissing cousins," but chances are they are now!  Travis needed a kidney.  Tannis offered one of hers. Read their story here

Did you know … 85% of British Columbians surveyed were in favour of organ donation?
But only 17% have registered to be organ donors?

This huge gap between “will do” and “did do” is threatening the lives of the 2,800 people in BC on kidney dialysis. They must wait up to 5 years for a new kidney. Some don’t last that long. The Kidney Foundation is committed to closing this gap and YOU CAN HELP.

SIGNUP either as an individual or a team to walk or run!

Don't forget to to help CLOSE THE GAP by registering at transplant.bc.ca.
Remember your drivers license is no longer enough...

By participating in the Kidney Walk and registering to become an organ donor, you are helping to bridge the gap and save someone’s life; raising awareness of the importance of kidney health and becoming a kidney hero.

If 100% of BC's population registered to be organ donors, the wait list would disappear!
Kidney disease is growing by epidemic proportions.
One in every 30 people in BC have developed kidney disease.
